Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) has now become a key part for the India automotive market as it is also liked liked by most people. Today most of the car manufacturers in India have equipped their popular products with an AMT unit, which has largely aided in increasing their sales numbers. And the trend is extensively growing in the market. Here we have brought you some of upcoming cars that are set to be launched with AMT in 2016.
1) Renault Lodgy
Renault is the latest car maker in India to add an AMT model to its line-up with the new Duster facelift. Christened as ‘Easy-R’ the new AMT unit from Renault will be catering to a number of cars in the company’s future line-up and the Lodgy will be one of these upcoming cars. Currently every MPV sold in India offers the option of an AMT or and automatic gearbox, which makes Renault Lodgy the only car in its segment to not get one. Understanding the need of the hour, Renault is currently working on an AMT version of the Lodgy that will go on sale later this year in India. The MPV will use the same Easy-R AMT unit and will no other mechanical change apart from that.

2) Renault Kwid AMT
Renault KwidThe Renault KWID is undoubtedly one of the most important car launches of 2015. Equipped with array of best-in-class features, the all-new KWID is currently most stylish and practical entry level hatchback in the market. Now for 2016, Renault India is planning for update the car with some addition features and one of key offerings will be an AMT unit. Apart from an AMT unit, the KWID is likely to come with a new 1.0-litre petrol unit as well. Renault will display the updated KWID at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi next month.

3) DC Avanti 310
There are many reasons why the DC Avanti is an important product for the Indian car market. Reasons like, is the first sports car to be built ground up by an Indian design house instead of a car maker or that it is the cheapest sports car in India, but what’s more important for us is that it is the first and only Made-in-India sports car. Now DC Designs is gearing up to launch a new and more powerful version, christened DC Avanti 310, the number 310 standing for its power output of 310bhp from the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine from Renault that powers the standard version. Another integral difference between the two cars is that the Avanti 310 will get an AMT unit instead of the standard 6-speed manual gearbox.
